Colette was born in Quebec, Canada and was raised by her mother and her father.

However, she was abused repeatedly, starting at the age of four and continuing until she was a teenage, by a male relative. When she started school, the effects of this abuse created fear and anger towards authority figures. Her ongoing rebellion created difficult problems for her in school, and she was declared a troubled child. She spent most of her youth attending a mental institution as an out patient.
